DNA damage response

The DNA Damage Response (DDR) has evolved in response to constant exposure of the genome to exogenous and endogenous genotoxins. Consequently, cells deploy a diverse repertoire of mechanisms to maintain genetic integrity involving both the organization of the DNA repair processes themselves and their integration with the cell cycle. Disruption of the DDR is one of the ‘Hallmarks of Cancer’.
